Swarm restore some honour

Swarm went it tonight’s game with vivid memories of last night’s 6-2 defeat, and minus the magical skills of Aleksandr Polozov. The Estonian suffered a major injury his right knee in the opening minutes of last nights game which will probably side-line him for several weeks. The 2012 Southern Stampede arrived in Auckland to start their 2012 NZIHL season. With an array of young New Zealand players, buoyed by group of predominantly Canadian imports, the Stampede backed their chances to take first night honours, despite not bringing a full strength team to Auckland.

Anyone outside the hockey community would think that a West Auckland Admirals and the Botany Swarm pre-season game would be a neighbourly affair. But with the Swarm looking to avenge last weeks 7-4 loss to Avondale, the last game before the start of the NZIHL season proved to be more like a “neighbours at war” reality show. Except nothing was stage managed. This was tough formidable hockey, sprinkled with skill and large doses of shear speed.

Swarm 4 - Admirals 7 in an exhibition game last night at botany. Took the swarm until the third period to start scoring but by then it was to late unfortunately. 3 weeks til the season starts.

Ice Blacks coming home

Right so the Ice Blacks played there last game this morning meaning they will be on there way home over the next few days from Iceland. Good news for the Swarm considering the majority of the team are in the Ice Blacks. First training next Tuesday.

Andy Guest will continue with his role and manager, Sue guest as the AsstManager.

Phillip Lyle returns to the team as Head Coach since his departure as theCoordinator in 2010

KC Ball will continue as a Asst Coach/player but with a more hands on rolesince the departure of Andreas Kaisser.

Rumours have it that the Swarm are heading off shore in July for a couple of games in Australia.
