The Botany Swarm have lost Sunday's Toa Kauhanga Riri Tio match to the Canterbury Red Devils, in a rollercoaster of a game which saw multiple lead changes, and a literal last-minute goal for the visitors which won them the game, the points and the trophy.
The Swarm began the game with some strong offensive pressure, but a series of minor penalties for both sides meant that much of the first period was played by special teams, with multiple 4-on-4 shifts.

The Swarm suffered a 5-3 defeat at the hands of the Canterbury Red Devils Saturday night in Botany, as a closely matched back-and-forth game ended in favour of the visitors.
The Devils were first on the board in P1, with a goal coming off a rush. Swarm goaltender Alain Giauque warded off the first couple of shots, but a rebound was collected by Liam Dallimore and he squeezed it in between Giauque’s skate and the post.

The Swarm will return to Auckland with two regulation wins and all six points available from the weekend's games in Dunedin.
The first period saw plenty of scoring chances and some great saves and good defense from both the Swarm and the Thunder, but no goals for either.

The Swarm picked up their first regulation win of the year in a wild back and forth game in Dunedin that saw them win by a final score of 7-5.
They had an illustrious start, killing off an early penalty, and following that up with a goal from Teemu Rantanen, who sent a bouncing puck in from the blue line which fooled Dunedin Thunder goaltender Villem-Henrik Koitmaa.

A fast and furious Auckland derby went down to the wire as the Swarm won 5-4 in overtime, for their first win of the year and to take Toa Kauhanga Riri Tio back home to Botany again.

The Admirals won a commanding 5-2 victory over the Swarm in the first Auckland derby match of the 2016 regular season.
The Admirals jumped out to a daunting 3-0 lead in the first period, taking advantage of some miscues and turnovers to score on the visitors and cashing in on the lack of discipline that saw the Swarm land in the penalty box a few times in quick succession.

Sunday's rematch between the Botany Swarm and the Skycity Stampede saw some fireworks, and a more lopsided score, as the visitors prevailed 5-2 over the Swarm.
After a tight game on Saturday that saw the visitors just pip the Swarm at the post, winning 4-3, Sunday's game promised to have plenty of passion as the Swarm knew they would have to come out strong.

The Botany Swarm fell just short of forcing overtime in a 4-3 regulation loss to the Skycity Stampede Saturday in Auckland. The match was tightly contested and neither team was able to put more than a one goal lead on the board.

In the last week of the regular season, the Admirals took early honours in the Auckland derby, winning 5-2 over the Swarm on Saturday.
The Admirals were first on the board, with Travis McMaster squeezing the puck under Alain Giauque's pads to give them their first goal, but the Swarm were able to equalise only a few seconds later, with Ian Wannamaker picking up the rebound of Michael Attwell's shot to tie the score at 1-1 on the very next shift.

The Botany Swarm and Canterbury Red Devils split their weekend matches, with Canterbury winning 11-3 on the Saturday, and the Swarm coming back to take a 5-4 victory in overtime on Sunday.
Sunday’s win means the Toa Kauhanga Riri Tio trophy will move from Christchurch – where the Red Devils had successfully defended it for almost a year – up to Auckland with the Swarm.
