With something to prove after Saturday’s OT loss, the Botany Swarm came into Sunday’s match against the West Auckland Admirals determined to make a better showing, and that they did, posting a final score of 4-0.

A close battle in Auckland kicked off the North Island’s games for the weekend, with the West Auckland Admirals taking a narrow overtime victory over the Botany Swarm, with a final score of 4-3.

Game Report: Saturday June 28th, vs Southern Stampede

The Swarm came storming back in Saturday's game determined to make a better showing, and were rewarded with an impressive 5-1 victory.


The Swarm took one goal lead early in the first period, with Brandon Contratto scoring ona powerplay. Once again the Swarm played a strong possession game and were able to dictate much of the game play, while the Stampede strongly defended their own zone and goaltender Aston Brookes was impressive in net for the locals.

Game Report: Friday 27th June, vs Southern Stampede

After a tightly-contested game, the Swarm suffered a narrow loss in their Friday game against the Southern Stampede, with a final score of 9-7 to the home side.


The Swarm were first on the board, with Michael Attwell cleaning up a rebound after Andrew Hay had pinched in to crash the net 9 minutes into the game. Game Report: Sunday 22nd June vs West Auckland Admirals

The Swarm will take 4 points out of their first weekend of away matches, falling to the West Auckland Admirals in OT in what was a very close game on Sunday.

 

Travis McMaster put the Admirals on the board early in the first period, redirecting a shot from the point. Jeremy Chai followed this up on a rush to the net, going high blocker side to give the Admirals a two goal lead. The Swarm opened the Auckland derby for 2014 with a 7-4 victory over the Admirals on Saturday, picking up three unanswered goals in the third period to make their first mark in the "win" column.

Game Report: Sunday June 15 vs Dunedin Thunder

The second half of this weekend’s double-header between the Swarm and Thunder in Botany once again appeared quite even in the opening frame. Unfortunately for the Swarm, the Thunder were able to capitalise on strong performances in the second and third periods to stretch out a lead and eventually win the game 11-5.

Game Report: Saturday June 14 vs Dunedin Thunder

The Botany Swarm suffered a 4-2 loss in their home opener against the Dunedin Thunder on Saturday, battling through a game that was much closer than the scoreline might indicate.

Stampede Bounce Back Strong

After a close match on Saturday that the Swarm took in overtime, Sunday???s game was decidedly less even on the scoresheet as the visiting Stampede took a 4-1 regulation win. The Swarm began promisingly with a few chances on the powerplay, but were not able to convert on those, with the Stampede getting in shooting lanes and a few good shots going wide or striking iron. The Botany Swarm played a tight match, with an eventual 7-6 OT win over the visiting Southern Stampede on Saturday night. The Swarm were first on the board, with Michael Attwell scoring after some great offensive pressure from his line.
