The Swarm are thrilled to announce that returning as an import player for the 2015 season will be Canadian defenseman Garrett Ferguson, the Swarm's 2014 MVP award winner.
With a strong first year on the Swarm's blueline, Garrett averaged just over a point per game while playing a consistently strong two-way game.
During the off-season, Garrett has continued to provide invaluable time and experience on the ice. He acted as assistant coach for the U13 Auckland rep team during their season, and was able to help the New Zealand U18 National Team in their tournament held here in Auckland in early 2015.
Off the ice, he and his partner have continued to explore New Zealand, especially enjoying the beautiful countryside of the North Island.
Garrett's highlights of the 2014 season include winning the Toa Kauhanga Riri Tio trophy from Canterbury in the Swarm's first attempt to win the NZIHL's 'log of wood', and playing in front of the amazing fans at Botany.
Garrett will once again bring an wealth of experience and talent to the Swarm, and he is eager to contribute to the team's effort in making a big impact on the league this year, with the ultimate goal of bringing the Birgel Cup back to Botany.
In looking ahead to the 2015 season, he says "We know that we need to be a better team this season and we have added some great players to help us achieve our goals."
