Dear Swarm Fans,
As you may now know, the NZIHL season for 2020 has been suspended. We are very sorry to everyone who was excited for another season of Swarm hockey, but the Covid-19 pandemic is an unprecedented period of difficulty for the entire world.
The Botany Swarm and the NZIHL’s member teams prioritize the health and safety of all participants in our league, including players, coaches, staff, officials, fans, family, volunteers, host families, board members, and the general public. Although it may be difficult to process, we feel this is the best precautionary measure to do our part in keeping New Zealand safe.
I would like to commend NZIHF President Andy Mills and NZIHL Commissioner Andreas Kaiser for promptly engaging the NZIHL’s member organisations in making this emotional yet important decision. The official NZIHL media release can be located here.
While the Swarm share your frustration and sadness that this season is suspended, we truly value your support and hope to see you again soon at Paradice Botany.
Travis Crickard
Botany Swarm General Manager
