First Period
The Mako were first on the board, with Dalmatau scoring on an early powerplay, but the Swarm wasted no time in answering back, with Robin Vortanov scoring just 35s later, banging in the puck on a bad angle from below the goal line.
The Swarm took the lead towards the end of the period, as Sam Webb finished on a great individual effort, sliding the puck between the pads of Mako goaltender Messenger.
A late penalty saw the Swarm on the penalty kill to round out the first, with a couple short-handed chances, and they’ll start period two with 101s of penalty time left. The Swarm lead 2-1 after the first period against the Mako at the Hive.
Second Period
It’s been a dominant second period for the Swarm, who lead 5-1 over the Mako after two periods.
The Swarm penalty kill had no trouble killing off the early penalty, and Sam Webb gave the Swarm an insurance goal early in the second to put them up 3-1.
Robin Vortanov followed up with his second of the night on a blistering shot from the left wing circle and Michael Attwell added the dagger with 41s remaining, sprung at the blue line on a stretch pass from Luke Simon as the Swarm killed off another minor.
Third Period
The Mako looked dangerous early in the period, getting back into the scoring column with another powerplay goal, this time from Chamberlin, but they were unable to add another as Swarm goalie Matt Canaday held the line the rest of the way. Kyle Jonsson added the Swarm’s sixth goal for the evening, scoring on his own rebound.
SWARM WIN! With a final score of 6-2, the Swarm will take this one over the Mako.
